Actipin 25mg Tablet is a tricyclic antidepressant. It is used in the treatment of insomnia (difficulty in sleeping). It is also used in patients intolerant of or unresponsive to alternative (other) treatment options for depression and anxiety disorders. Actipin 25mg Tablet works by increasing the levels of chemical messengers in the brain that stabilizes and enhances the mood. It is usually advised?to take it before bedtime because it can make you feel drowsy. It can be taken with or without food, but you should take it at a fixed time each day for better efficacy. The dose and duration will be decided by your doctor so that you get the right amount to control your symptoms. If you have missed any dose, take it as soon as you remember it. Do not skip any dose and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. This medication must not be stopped suddenly without talking to the doctor. Your dose may be modified or gradually decreased before stopping the medicine.The most common side effects of this medicine include increased heart rate, blurred vision, dryness in the mouth, difficulty in urination, and constipation. Initially, this medicine may also cause a sudden drop in blood pressure, especially when you change positions. It can also reduce feelings of restlessness, tiredness, difficulty concentrating, feeling irritable and sleep problems that often come with Anxiety Disorder. It will therefore help you go about your daily activities more easily and be more productive. Keep taking this medicine even if you feel well. Stopping suddenly can cause serious problems.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Actipin 25mg Tablet may be taken with or without food.

It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Actipin 25mg Tablet | - Pregnancy : CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR

The safety of Actipin 25mg Tablet during pregnancy has not been established. There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women, and animal data on reproductive toxicity are insufficient. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing. | - Breast feeding : CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR

Actipin 25mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby. It should be used only if the expected benefit outweighs the potential risk. Please consult your doctor.The baby should be monitored carefully for excessive sleepiness, and adequate weight gain. | - Driving : UNSAFE

Actipin 25mg Tablet may decrease alertness, affect your vision, or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur. | - Kidney : SAFE IF PRESCRIBED

Actipin 25mg Tablet is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment is recommended.However, talk to your doctor if you have any underlying kidney disease. | - Liver : CAUTION

Actipin 25mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment may be needed.

If you miss a dose of Actipin 25mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
Can I stop taking Actipin 25mg Tablet abruptly?::: No, you should always check with your doctor before you stop taking Actipin 25mg Tablet. Stopping the medicine abruptly may cause withdrawal effects. So, your doctor may reduce your dose gradually before taking you off the medicine completely. This helps to prevent a recurrence of the symptoms of depression and also reduces the chances of withdrawal symptoms.| Does Actipin 25mg Tablet cause withdrawal symptoms?::: Yes, stopping the use of Actipin 25mg Tablet abruptly results in withdrawal symptoms which include insomnia (trouble falling asleep), irritability and excessive sweating. You should consult your doctor if you need to stop Actipin 25mg Tablet. You doctor may gradually reduce the dose of Actipin 25mg Tablet before taking you off Actipin 25mg Tablet completely.| When must Actipin 25mg Tablet not be taken?::: You should not take Actipin 25mg Tablet if you have ever had an allergic reaction to antidepressant medicines (such as Actipin 25mg Tablet), or any of the inactive ingredients of Actipin 25mg Tablet. Avoid taking Actipin 25mg Tablet if you have glaucoma (increased eye pressure), liver problems, any difficulty in passing urine, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not take Actipin 25mg Tablet if you are taking or have taken monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) in the last two weeks or, if you suffer from mania (where you experience an abnormally elevated and excitable mood). This refers to driving while not fully awake after taking a sleeping medicine that can lead to decreased awareness of the surroundings and cause accidents.| What are the overdose symptoms of Actipin 25mg Tablet?::: Overdose of Actipin 25mg Tablet can be mild or severe. Signs and symptoms of mild overdose include drowsiness, blurred vision and excessive dryness of the mouth. Severe overdose may cause loss of consciousness, difficulty breathing, convulsions, low blood pressure, unusually fast heartbeat or palpitations. If you take too much of Actipin 25mg Tablet, contact your doctor immediately or seek emergency medical help.| How long does it take for Actipin 25mg Tablet to kick in?::: It may take several weeks or longer for you to experience significant benefits of Actipin 25mg Tablet. Do not stop taking Actipin 25mg Tablet without talking to your doctor, even if you feel better.| Can Actipin 25mg Tablet treat insomnia?::: Yes. Actipin 25mg Tablet is also used for the treatment of insomnia (difficulty sleeping). It is especially helpful for people who have trouble staying asleep.| Can I drink alcohol while on treatment with Actipin 25mg Tablet?::: No, you should not drink alcohol while taking Actipin 25mg Tablet as alcohol can increase the sleepiness or dizziness that occur as side effects of Actipin 25mg Tablet. | Is Actipin 25mg Tablet addictive?::: Generally Actipin 25mg Tablet does not cause dependence and is therefore not addictive. But, you should not stop taking Actipin 25mg Tablet abruptly as it may cause temporary withdrawal symptoms such as insomnia (trouble falling asleep), irritability and excessive sweating.| Can Actipin 25mg Tablet cause suicidal thoughts?::: Yes, Actipin 25mg Tablet can cause suicidal thoughts. This is more common in people who have previously had thoughts about killing or harming themselves, are younger than 25 years of age with a history of psychiatric conditions and who have earlier been treated with an antidepressant. If you experience suicidal thoughts, contact your doctor or go to a hospital straight away. You may also find it helpful to talk to a relative or close friend.| Does Actipin 25mg Tablet cause weight gain or loss of appetite?::: Actipin 25mg Tablet may cause weight gain as well as loss of appetite, but it is not very common. Call your doctor if any of these bother you.| What is the best time to take Actipin 25mg Tablet?::: Actipin 25mg Tablet should be taken in the dose and duration advised by the doctor. Your dose will depend on the illness you are being treated for. If you are taking Actipin 25mg Tablet for insomnia, you should take it 30 minutes just before bedtime and you should not do anything that needs mental focus. If you are taking it for depression or anxiety, take it exactly as directed by your doctor. Remember to take this medicine at the same time each day to avoid missing doses.| What are the side effects of Actipin 25mg Tablet?::: The side effects of Actipin 25mg Tablet include increased heart rate, weight gain, dryness in mouth, orthostatic hypotension (sudden lowering of blood pressure on standing), constipation and difficulty in urination. It may make your skin more sensitive to sunlight, cause chills and excessive sweating. Please consult your doctor if any of these side effects worry you or do not go away.
Actipin 25mg Tablet is a tricyclic antidepressant. It increases the levels of chemical messengers in the brain that help in regulating the mood and treat depression.
-Moclobemide (Oral Route): Life-threatening

Do not consume Moclobemide with Doxepin. If Moclobemide is essential, ensure a gap of at least 1 day after discontinuing Doxepin. Please consult your doctor. Concomitant use may cause an increase in blood serotonin levels. Patients may experience agitation, increased body temperature, fast heartbeat, muscle rigidity, and loss of coordination.

| -Domperidone (Oral Route): Life-threatening

Do not consume Domperidone with Doxepin. Concomitant use may affect heart rhythm and can be fatal.

| -Tranylcypromine (Oral Route): Life-threatening

Do not consume Tranylcypromine with Doxepin. If Tranylcypromine is essential, ensure a gap of at least 2 weeks after discontinuing Doxepin. Please consult your doctor.

| -Tramadol (Injection Route): Severe

Careful consideration is advised if you have epilepsy. Watch out for symptoms of serotonin syndrome, such as sedation, respiratory impairment, tremors, fever, diarrhea, or agitation, and consult your doctor if you experience them. Your doctor may alter or discontinue the medicines accordingly. Concurrent use may cause serotonin syndrome.

| -Thioridazine (Oral Route): Severe

If concurrent use is essential, watch out for symptoms such as sleepiness, dry mouth, impaired voluntary movements, weight gain, constipation, muscle stiffness or tremors and consult your doctor if you experience them. Factors such as old age, chronic heart issues, or low potassium levels may more frequently cause disturbance in heart rhythm, and your doctor may consider ECG monitoring in their presence. Concurrent use may cause serious disturbance in heart rhythm.
