Acovalovir Tablet
Acovalovir Tablet is used to treat cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection of the retina (retinitis) in adult patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). It is also used for the prevention of CMV infection in patients who have received an organ transplant from a CMV-infected donor. Acovalovir Tablet should be taken in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. It should be taken with food. You should drink plenty of water while on treatment with this medicine, as it helps prevent dehydration and kidney damage.Acovalovir Tablet may cause a few common side effects like diarrhea, vomiting, anemia, low white blood cells, low platelet levels, insomnia, and vomiting. Inform your doctor if these side effects persist for a longer duration.Before you start Acovalovir Tablet, let your doctor know if you have any medical conditions. Let your doctor also know about all the medications you are taking, as some medicines may interact with Acovalovir Tablet. Please consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to conceive, or breastfeeding.

In Treatment of Cytomegalovirus Infection Cytomegalovirus infection is a common virus infection which may have no symptoms at all or may have symptoms like fever and fatigue. Severe infection may show symptoms involving the eyes, brain, or other internal organs. This virus is spread through sexual and nonsexual contact with body secretions in people who are immunocompromised or those who have undergone any transplant. Acovalovir Tablet helps to prevent multiplication of the infection causing virus and treats the infection. Keep taking it in the dose and duration prescribed by the doctor to get maximum benefit.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Acovalovir Tablet should be taken with or after food.

Acovalovir Tablet is not recommended during pregnancy as there is positive evidence of fetal risk based on animal studies. However, it may still be prescribed by a doctor in situations where the benefits outweigh the risks. | - Breast feeding : CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR

Acovalovir Tablet may be unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby. It should be used only if the expected benefit outweighs the potential risk. Please consult your doctor. | - Driving : CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR

It is not known whether Acovalovir Tablet alters the ability to drive. Do not drive if you experience any symptoms that affect your ability to concentrate and react. Please consult your doctor. | - Kidney : CAUTION

Acovalovir Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment may be needed. | - Liver : SAFE IF PRESCRIBED

Acovalovir Tablet is probably safe to use in patients with liver disease. Limited data suggest dose adjustment may not be needed.

If you miss a dose of Acovalovir Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

It is also used for the prevention of CMV infection in patients who have received an organ transplant from a CMV-infected donor.| How does valganciclovir work?::: After being taken orally, Acovalovir Tablet gets converted into ganciclovir by liver and intestinal enzymes, which then prevents the growth and spread of cytomegalovirus.| Does Acovalovir Tablet cover herpes simplex virus (HSV)?::: Acovalovir Tablet can also be used for the treatment of herpes simplex virus (HSV) infection. Please follow the doctor's advice regarding its use.
Acovalovir Tablet is an antiviral medication. It prevents the multiplication of viruses in human cells. This stops the virus from producing new viruses and clears up your infection.
-Tacrolimus (Oral Route): Severe

If concurrent use is essential, your doctor may monitor your tacrolimus levels, potassium levels and kidney function closely. They may adjust the doses as per the observations. Concurrent use may increase the risk of kidney damage.

| -Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (Oral Route): Severe

Concurrent use may increase the risk of kidney damage. If concurrent use is essential, your doctor may monitor your kidney function closely.

| -Amphotericin B (Injection Route): Moderate

If concurrent use is essential, please consult your doctor. They may monitor your kidney's functioning closely. Amphotericin B may slow down the removal of Valganciclovir from the body.
