Aceten 12.5mg Tablet belongs to a group of medicines known as angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. It is widely used to treat high blood pressure and heart failure and may be prescribed after a heart attack. It also lowers the chances of having a heart attack or stroke. Aceten 12.5mg Tablet can be prescribed either alone or in combination with other medicines. It may be taken empty stomach. This medicine should be taken at the same time each day to get the most benefit. It is important to continue taking it regularly even if you feel well or even if your blood pressure is controlled. Most people with high blood pressure do not feel ill, but if you stop taking this medicine, your condition could get worse.Making some changes in your lifestyle will also help lower your blood pressure. These may include regular exercise, losing weight, smoking cessation, reducing alcohol intake, and reducing the amount of salt in your diet as advised by your doctor. The most common side effects of this medicine include decreased blood pressure, cough, increased potassium level in blood, fatigue, weakness, and dizziness. Most of these are temporary and resolve with time. Talk to your doctor if any of the side effects bother you or do not go away.Before taking this medicine, let your doctor know if you have any kidney or liver problems. Pregnant or breastfeeding mothers should also consult their doctor before taking it. Your doctor may check your kidney function, blood pressure, and potassium levels in your blood at regular intervals while you are taking this medicine.

Aceten 12.5mg Tablet is highly unsafe during pregnancy. It can cause serious harm to the unborn baby, including birth defects and pregnancy loss. Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. | - Breast feeding : CAUTION

Aceten 12.5mg Tablet should be used with caution during breastfeeding. Breastfeeding should be held until the treatment of the mother is completed and the drug is eliminated from the body. | - Driving : UNSAFE

Aceten 12.5mg Tablet may cause side effects that could affect your ability to drive. | - Kidney : CAUTION

Aceten 12.5mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment may be needed.Regular blood pressure monitoring is recommended for dose adjustment. It may cause neutropenia (low white blood cells) and proteinuria in patients with kidney disease. | - Liver : CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR

There is limited data available on the use of Aceten 12.5mg Tablet in patients with liver disease.Inform your doctor if you develop any signs and symptoms of jaundice while taking this medicine.

If you miss a dose of Aceten 12.5mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
What is Aceten 12.5mg Tablet? What is it used for?::: Aceten 12.5mg Tablet belongs to a group of medicines known as angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. It relaxes and widens the blood vessels, making it easier for the blood to pass through the vessels. As a result of this, the heart does not have to work more to push the blood. Since the workload on the heart is reduced, it helps to lower the blood pressure and thus reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke. It is also used for the treatment of congestive heart failure and diabetic nephropathy.| What time of the day should I take Aceten 12.5mg Tablet?::: Aceten 12.5mg Tablet should be taken at the same time each day to reduce the chances of a missed dose. Take it in the dose and duration advised by the doctor. Your dose will depend on the condition you are being treated for and therefore, it will vary from person to person. If you experience any side effects while taking Aceten 12.5mg Tablet, please consult your doctor.| I feel better after taking Aceten 12.5mg Tablet, can I stop taking it?::: No, continue taking Aceten 12.5mg Tablet even if you feel better and your blood pressure is under control. Stopping Aceten 12.5mg Tablet suddenly may cause your blood pressure to increase and your chances of stroke or heart attack may rise. Usually once you start taking any medicine for controlling blood pressure, you have to continue taking it life long unless you cannot tolerate it.| Will Aceten 12.5mg Tablet make me feel dizzy? What should I do about it?::: Yes, Aceten 12.5mg Tablet may make you feel dizzy or lightheaded. If Aceten 12.5mg Tablet makes you feel dizzy when you stand up, try getting up very slowly or stay seated until you feel better. If you begin to feel dizzy, lie down so that you don't faint, then sit until you feel better. Don?t drive, do not use tools or machines and avoid anything requiring concentration while you're feeling dizzy or shaky.| What other lifestyle changes should I make while taking Aceten 12.5mg Tablet?::: Lifestyle changes play a major role in keeping you healthy if you are taking Aceten 12.5mg Tablet. Avoid taking excess salt in your diet and find ways to reduce or manage stress in your life. Practise yoga or meditation or take up a hobby. Ensure that you have a sound sleep every night as this also reduces your stress and hence helps in keeping your blood pressure normal. Stop smoking and taking alcohol as this helps in lowering your blood pressure and helps to prevent heart problems. Exercise regularly and take a balanced diet that includes whole grains, fresh fruits, vegetables and fat-free products. You should consult your doctor if you need any further help to get maximum benefit of Aceten 12.5mg Tablet and to keep healthy.| Can Aceten 12.5mg Tablet increase potassium levels? If so, what should be done?::: Aceten 12.5mg Tablet may increase potassium levels in the blood, especially if you have uncontrolled diabetes mellitus, kidney problems and dehydration. Potassium levels may also increase in patients using potassium salts or medicines which increase potassium levels or are aged more than 70 years of age. If you have any of these conditions and are using Aceten 12.5mg Tablet, you need to be careful and get regular blood tests done to monitor potassium levels.| After starting Aceten 12.5mg Tablet, I have developed dry cough which is very irritating and is not getting better with any medicine. What should I do now?::: Aceten 12.5mg Tablet may cause dry cough, as a side effect in some people. This can be persistent and may not be relieved by any medicine. Talk to your doctor if it bothers you or if you have trouble sleeping. Your doctor may suggest ways of managing the cough or may prescribe another medicine. Remember, do not stop taking Aceten 12.5mg Tablet without consulting your doctor as it may increase your blood pressure and put you at a risk of developing a heart attack or stroke. Even if you stop taking Aceten 12.5mg Tablet, the cough may take a few days to a month to resolve completely.| Can Aceten 12.5mg Tablet affect my fertility?::: There is no evidence that Aceten 12.5mg Tablet has any effect on fertility in both men and women. However, if you are planning to get pregnant, talk to your doctor first because Aceten 12.5mg Tablet is not recommended in pregnancy.
Aceten 12.5mg Tablet is an angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. It works by reducing stress on the heart and relaxing blood vessel so that blood flows more smoothly and the heart can pump blood more efficiently.
-Tacrolimus (Oral Route): Severe

If concurrent use is essential, your doctor may monitor your kidney function and potassium levels closely. Concurrent use may increase the risk of high blood potassium levels and/or damage to the kidneys.

| -Azathioprine (Oral Route): Severe

Caution is advised when taking Captopril with Azathioprine. Your doctor may monitor your blood cell counts frequently. Captopril may increase the rate of release of Azathioprine in the blood.

| -Co-trimoxazole (Oral Route): Severe

Do not consume Captopril with Co-trimoxazole. If concurrent use is essential, please consult your doctor. They may monitor your potassium levels closely. Concurrent use may increase the risk of high blood potassium levels and/or sudden death.

| -Eplerenone (Oral Route): Severe

If concurrent use is essential, watch out for symptoms such as muscle weakness, fatigue, cramps, nausea, vomiting, tingling, numbness or irregular heartbeat and consult your doctor if you experience them. They may also monitor your potassium levels closely. Concurrent use may cause high blood potassium levels.

| -Spironolactone (Oral Route): Severe

Do not consume Captopril with Spironolactone in case of kidney disorders. If concurrent use is essential, your doctor may closely monitor your kidney function and adjust or discontinue the medicines accordingly. Concurrent use may cause high blood potassium levels.
