Absenz Syrup is an anti-epileptic medicine used to treat seizures/epilepsy. It works by slowing down the hyperactivity of the brain and nerves in the brain which cause seizures (fits). It also helps reduce symptoms such as confusion, uncontrollable jerking movements, loss of awareness, and fear or anxiety. Absenz Syrup may be taken with or without food but try to take it at the same time each day. Follow your doctor?s instructions carefully to get the maximum benefit. The dose will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. Your doctor will advise the right dose for you. You should continue taking it for as long as your doctor has told you to, even if you feel well. If you stop or miss doses your seizures could get worse.Common side effects of this medicine include dizziness, headache, somnolence, anorexia, diarrhea, gastrointestinal upset, nausea, and vomiting. Side effects are more common during the first few weeks and usually lessen as your body gets used to the medicine. Most do not need medical attention, but some of them can be serious. Let your doctor know if you have any symptoms, there may be ways of preventing or reducing them. A small number of people being treated with this medicine have had thoughts of harming or killing themselves. Contact your doctor if your mood changes for the worse.Before taking it, you should tell your doctor if you have kidney problems, depression, or suicidal thoughts, and if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. You should also not breastfeed while taking this medicine. Additionally, do not drink alcohol or take other medicines that make you sleepy or dizzy while on treatment with this medicine. Drowsiness and dizziness may affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. Your kidney function may need to be tested often while taking this medicine.

In Treatment of Epilepsy/Seizures Absenz Syrup slows down electrical signals in the brain which cause seizures (fits). It can also help reduce symptoms such as confusion, uncontrollable jerking movements, loss of awareness, and fear or anxiety. The medicine can allow you to do some activities that you would otherwise be forbidden or scared to do (such as swimming and driving). Follow your doctor?s instructions carefully to get the maximum benefit.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a measuring cup and take it by mouth. Shake well before use. Absenz Syrup may be taken with or without food.
- Alcohol : UNSAFE

Do not drink alcohol while you are taking this medicine. Absenz Syrup may cause excessive drowsiness when taken with alcohol. | - Pregnancy : CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR

Absenz Syrup is not recommended during pregnancy as there is positive evidence of fetal risk based on animal studies. However, it may still be prescribed by a doctor in situations where the benefits outweigh the risks. | - Breast feeding : UNSAFE

Absenz Syrup is unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Data suggests that the drug may cause toxicity to the baby. | - Driving : UNSAFE

Absenz Syrup may decrease alertness, affect your vision, or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur. | - Kidney : CAUTION

Absenz Syrup should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment may be needed. | - Liver : CAUTION

If you miss a dose of Absenz Syrup, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
What is Absenz Syrup used for? ::: Absenz Syrup is a medicine used to control a specific type of seizure called absence seizures, or petit mal epilepsy. These are brief periods when a person may stop what they are doing and stare blankly for a few seconds. It helps reduce the number of these episodes and improve daily functioning.| What are the serious warning signs I need to watch for while taking Absenz Syrup? ::: Contact your doctor immediately if you experience symptoms like fever, sore throat, rash, mouth ulcers, bruising, or fatigue while on Absenz Syrup. These may signal blood problems or a severe allergic reaction. Sudden changes in mood, thoughts of self-harm, or new or worsening depression also require urgent medical attention.| Can Absenz Syrup affect my blood or immune system? ::: Yes. Rarely, Absenz Syrup can cause blood disorders such as low white blood cells or platelets. These conditions can make you more likely to get infections or bleed easily. Your doctor will monitor your blood regularly during treatment.| What is Drug Reaction with Eosinophilia and Systemic Symptoms (DRESS), and can Absenz Syrup cause it? ::: Yes, Absenz Syrup can cause DRESS, a rare but serious allergic reaction that may include fever, rash, swollen glands, or liver and kidney problems. It can occur even if a rash has not appeared yet. If you notice these symptoms, stop taking Absenz Syrup and get medical help right away.| Can Absenz Syrup cause serious skin reactions? ::: Although rare, Absenz Syrup can cause life-threatening skin conditions like Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS). Symptoms include a painful rash, blisters, or peeling skin. Stop taking Absenz Syrup immediately if these appear and seek emergency care.| Can Absenz Syrup affect my mood or cause suicidal thoughts?::: Like other anti-seizure medicines, Absenz Syrup may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts or behavior in a small number of people. Tell your doctor right away if you or your loved ones notice new or worsening depression, anxiety, irritability, or unusual mood changes.| Does Absenz Syrup affect the liver or kidneys? ::: Yes, Absenz Syrup can sometimes cause liver or kidney problems. Signs include yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, swelling, or persistent nausea. Your doctor may perform blood and urine tests regularly to check your liver and kidney health.| Can Absenz Syrup make other types of seizures worse? ::: In some people who have more than one type of epilepsy, Absenz Syrup may increase grand mal (tonic-clonic) seizures. If your seizures change or worsen after starting the medicine, talk to your doctor right away.| What should I do if I develop a rash or fever while on Absenz Syrup? ::: A rash or fever can sometimes be the first sign of a serious reaction. Stop taking Absenz Syrup and contact your doctor immediately. Do not wait to see if it goes away on its own.
Absenz Syrup belongs to a class of medicines called anticonvulsants. It works by binding with the T-type voltage-sensitive calcium channels to regulate the entrance for calcium ions in the nerves and brain. In this way, it decreases the hyperactivity of the brain and nerves. Thus, it works on the nervous system to treat seizures (fits).
-Orlistat (Oral Route): Moderate

Watch out for symptoms such as tremors. seizures or impaired coordination and consult your doctor if you experience them. Your doctor may consider separating the administration of Orlistat and Ethosuximide. Orlistat may reduce efficacy of Ethosuximide.

| -Sevelamer (Oral Route): Moderate

To take Ethosuximide, ensure a gap of at least 1 hour before or 3 hours after taking Sevelamer. Your doctor may monitor your treatment and adjust the doses as per the observations. Sevelamer may reduce the absorption of Ethosuximide.

| -Clozapine (Oral Route): Moderate

Your doctor may monitor your blood cell count and adjust the doses as per the observations. Concurrent use may increase the risk of low blood cell counts.

| -Ritonavir (Oral Route): Moderate

If concurrent use is essential, your doctor may monitor Ethosuximide levels along with your overall treatment and adjust the doses as per the observations. Ritonavir may increase the rate of release of Ethosuximide in the blood.

| -Deferiprone (Oral Route): Moderate

Do not consume Deferiprone with Ethosuximide. If concurrent use is essential, please consult your doctor. They may monitor your blood cell count frequently. Concurrent use may increase the risk of low blood cell counts.
