Abortab 200mg Tablet is an anti-progestational steroid class of drug used for medical termination of pregnancy. It works by blocking the action of progesterone, an essential hormone for the development of pregnancy. Abortab 200mg Tablet is given alone or in combination with some other medicine to attain the maximum benefit. It can be taken with or without food or as your doctor's advice. It should be taken orally, by swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water. If you experience vomiting within 45 minutes of tablet intake, inform your doctor or take another tablet. The medicine may take 24- 48 hours to show its action and you experience bleeding.The most common side effects of this medicine include nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. If these bother you or appear serious, let your doctor know. There may be ways of reducing or preventing them. If you experience heavy vaginal bleeding or abdominal pain on taking this medicine, you should inform your doctor immediately.Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have ever had an ectopic pregnancy, or you are breastfeeding or using an intrauterine device. Your doctor should also know about all other medicines you are taking as many of these may make this medicine less effective or change the way it works. You must avoid strenuous activity like heavy exercise, running, and driving while abortion as it can affect the bleeding. Your doctor may perform an ultrasound or pelvic examination to check for abortion completion.

What is Abortab 200mg Tablet and what it is used for?::: Abortab 200mg Tablet contains a medicine called Mifepristone. It helps in medical termination of the pregnancy. It works by blocking the effect of progesterone (a female sex hormone) which is required for maintenance of pregnancy. It is only used to terminate a pregnancy which should not be more than 63 days old, counting from the first day of the last menstrual period.| How and in what dose should I use Abortab 200mg Tablet?::: Abortab 200mg Tablet can be taken orally with a glass of water. It should be taken under the supervision of a doctor.| What should I expect after taking Abortab 200mg Tablet?::: You may or may not experience vaginal bleeding or spotting after taking this medicine. After 48 hours of taking Abortab 200mg Tablet, your doctor shall examine you and may prescribe you another medicine (Misoprostol) for complete termination of pregnancy. After 14 days of taking Abortab 200mg Tablet, your gynaecologist may run some blood tests or perform ultrasonography to confirm whether the pregnancy has been terminated or not.| Can Abortab 200mg Tablet affect my future chances of getting pregnant?::: No, studies have shown that this medicine does not impair the fertility of the women. Your future chances of getting pregnant are as equal as of those who have not taken this medicine.

-Apalutamide (Oral Route): Severe

Concurrent use should be avoided. Please consult with your doctor. Apalutamide may increase the metabolism of Mifepristone.Mifepristone may decrease the metabolism of Apalutamide.

| -Dexibuprofen (Oral Route): Severe

Do not consume Mifepristone with Dexibuprofen. Dexibuprofen may reduce the efficacy of Mifepristone.

| -Acalabrutinib (Oral Route): Moderate

Persistant concurrent use may increase blood levels of Acalabrutinib.

| -Allylestrenol (Oral Route): Moderate

In case of Cushing's syndrome, your doctor may recommend you to use non-hormonal forms of contraception like, condoms during treatment and for 1 month after stopping Allylestrenol. Mifepristone may reduce efficacy of Allylestrenol.

| -Alprazolam (Oral Route): Moderate

If concurrent use is essential, watch out for symptoms of Alprazolam side effects such as drowsiness, tiredness, dizziness or slurred speech and consult your doctor if you experience them. They may adjust the dose of Alprazolam accordingly. Mifepristone may raise blood levels of Alprazolam.
