Abbott Neostigmine 0.5mg Injection is a prescription medicine used in the treatment of myasthenia gravis (a disease-causing muscle weakness and tiredness), paralytic ileus (paralysis of intestinal muscles), postoperative urinary retention, and for reversal of effect of skeletal muscle relaxants after surgery.Abbott Neostigmine 0.5mg Injection works by reducing and improving muscle weakness. It is given as an injection under the supervision of a healthcare professional. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment and never stop this suddenly without talking to your doctor. However, before taking this medicine it is better to inform your doctor if you are suffering from any kidney disease, Parkinson's disease, asthma, or stomach disorders.The most common side effects of this medicine are slow heart rate, nausea, andvomiting. If you any other symptoms which you think are caused by the medicine, you should let your doctor know. They may be able to suggest ways to reduce or prevent the side effects.? Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult the doctor before taking this medicine.

If you miss a dose of Abbott Neostigmine 0.5mg Injection, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Abbott Neostigmine 0.5mg Injection is a reversible cholinesterase inhibitor. It increases the level of acetylcholine, a chemical messenger in the brain, by suppressing acetylcholinesterase (enzyme). This acetylcholine further triggers muscle contracting receptors which helps in muscle contraction.
